About SGAI India

The SGAI School Game Association Of India is a registered not-for-profit organization (CIN: U85300PN2022NPL207845) established in 2022 with its registered office in Pune, Maharashtra. Our mission is to promote educational gaming and sports activities in schools across India to foster holistic development among students.

We believe that games and sports are not merely recreational activities but powerful educational tools that teach teamwork, strategy, problem-solving, and resilience. Our association works with schools, educators, and game developers to create meaningful gaming experiences that complement academic learning.

Our organization operates under the Companies Act, 2013, and is recognized by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. We collaborate with educational boards, state governments, and international educational gaming associations to bring best practices to Indian schools.

With a network of over 200 affiliated schools across 15 states in India, we have impacted more than 50,000 students through our various programs and initiatives. Our annual National School Gaming Championship has become a premier event in the educational gaming calendar, attracting participation from schools nationwide.

Key Initiatives

National School Gaming Championship (NSGC)

Our flagship annual event brings together students from across India to compete in various educational gaming categories. The championship includes:

  • Strategy Board Games Tournament
  • Educational Video Game Challenges
  • Team-based Problem Solving Competitions
  • Game Design & Development Showcase

The 2023 championship saw participation from 15,000+ students representing 350 schools across 22 states. Winners receive scholarships, gaming equipment, and opportunities for further development in game design.

Registration for NSGC 2024 opens on September 1, 2024. Schools can register through our online portal or contact our regional coordinators.

Digital Literacy Through Gaming

A nationwide initiative to improve digital literacy among school children through engaging game-based learning modules. This program has been implemented in 120 government schools across rural Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

The program focuses on basic computer skills, internet safety, and introductory programming concepts through game-like interfaces that make learning intuitive and enjoyable for students with limited prior exposure to technology.

Our impact assessment shows a 67% improvement in digital competency among participating students over a 6-month period.

Inclusive Gaming Initiative

Developing and promoting games accessible to students with diverse abilities and learning needs. We collaborate with special educators and accessibility experts to create gaming experiences that are inclusive and beneficial for all students.

This initiative includes tactile games for visually impaired students, simplified interfaces for those with cognitive challenges, and adaptive controllers for students with physical disabilities.

Our inclusive gaming toolkit is now used in 45 special education schools across 8 states, benefiting over 2,000 students with special needs.
